Shooting in 3D with a Canon 7D

I own the Canon 7D but if any of you know me at all, you know I hate 3D. I have never seen Avatar. I just am opposed to it. I have no clue why. It is an opinion not based on fact or logic I just don’t even like the idea of it. However, I saw this 3D lens for the Canon 7D and I am curious if anyone owns or has used this. Sure I am a bit hypocritical in that I hate 3d but if I can do it I probably will just to say I did. Doesn’t make much sense but it’s true.

  1. hate is a pretty strong word

  2. Jon Connor says:

True. Maybe strongly dislike is a better phrasing.

  3. Strong words and emotions are necessary for true and good work. I say know what you hate and go crazy for the things you love.

  4. We’ll have to test this new toy, it’s worth.

  5. I researched this to death for quite some time. The issue is that it works…kind of. It creates an in camera stereogram which is not a popular 3D format or even as good as the 3D anaglyph images we saw back in the ’80s. To really create good 3D with a DSLR you either need two of them which allow a couple of different setups to lengthy to get into here, or you can use a somewhat antiquated anaglyph lens (there we’re professional ones briefly available). I created a 3D anaglyph lens adapter just for fun using info I found on instructables.com but it’s certainly not good enough for anything more than a stylistic ’80s 3D look.

  7. Thanks for the info.

  8. We just finished this 3D music video shot entirely on two 7Ds. Worked pretty well except for the few shots we did at 24fps instead of 60. Couldn’t sync the frames well enough:
