Maryann Brandon, ACE
Graduating from the prestigious NYU film school, Maryann Brandon began her career working on independent films and television series. Having gathered some Sci-fi experience on the series The Others, she landed a job with then up and coming writer/producer JJ Abrams for his new series entitled Alias.
As an Editor on Alias, she received a Producer credit for her exceptional work and directed two episodes. Maryann has since edited all of Abrams’ features, including Mission Impossible III, Super 8, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness, and Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, which has grossed over $2 Billion in worldwide receipts, and brought Maryann her first Oscar nomination.
Over her career, Maryann has cut some great films with iconic filmmakers like Warner Bros’ Grumpier Old Men with Howie Deutch, Robin Swicord’s The Jane Austen Book Club, Dreamworks’ animated action adventure How to Train Your Dragon, A Thousand Acres starring Jessica Lange and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse, Universal’s Endless Love, the Dreamworks animated films Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2, both of which nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards, and Sony’s Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt action drama Passengers.
Other Award recognition for Maryann’s work include a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Alias, and three ACE Award nominations, for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek and How To Train Your Dragon. She also won a Saturn Award for her work on Star Wars TFA and a Hamilton award for Super 8 and Passengers.
Most recently, she has re-teamed with director Jennifer Yuh Nelson to cut Fox’s Sci-Fi adventure film The Darkest Minds.
